Shoreditch Street Art Walk

Hello there
Yesterday we had a great day out in London's Shoreditch area looking at the amazing street art to be found on every corner. I'm inspired by the bright, bold colours and the amazing talent and imagination. A lot of street art also makes a social comment and of course it's free for everyone to enjoy. We followed an itinerary I found online, but it's very hard to stay on course as there's something around every corner and street art is forever evolving so something new can pop up over night.

I photographed over 160 works and would have taken more if it hadn't been such a damp day. Here are a few of my favourites.

For a great, cheap, day out, you can't beat a wander around the streets of Shoreditch enjoying the independent retailers, food outlets and free art!

On the Road

Hello
Here's another card using the stamps from Creative Stamping magazine issue 54. The van and signpost are decoupaged but the rest of the background is flat. I masked off the outside and stenciled the chevrons in the circle, then masked off the circle and stamped around the edges. I added shadows with Promarkers to give the illusion of depth.

As I have freinds with camper vans I think this card will come in handy.

A quick one to start the day as I'm off on a London street art walk later. Pictures to follow!

Materials used:
Creative Stamping issue 54
GiogioCraft stencil: directional drops
Clarity stencil: framer shape circle
Distress Oxides
Archival ink

Live for Today

Hello there
After a little break to get re-energized I spent the weekend getting my crafting mojo going. My lovely husband buys me craft magazines from time to time and I thought a good way to get creating without too much effort was to have a play with the stamp set from Creative Stamping 54.

The plane is slightly raised on foam pads but I also added a shadow with Promarkers on the base to give the illusion of extra depth.

After a day of getting inky making a batch of cards I feel that creative spark returning!

Thank you for stopping by xxx

New Home

Hello there
A super quickie this afternoon as I'm very excited to be packing to go to Ministry of Mixology in Coventry tomorrow for a weekend of messy, mixed media fun. As one of our party has just moved house I thought a card is in order.

I've used another of my Brusho backgrounds using a Clarity stencil and the technique on the 2017 Clarity calendar. The sentiment inside is from Woodware and reads 'wishing you love and laughter.' Sometimes CAS is just what's needed.

Hope you have a great weekend ahead. Thanks for stopping by. xxx

Spring is in the Air

Hello again!
Like buses, nothing for ages then two posts at once!

I'm hoping if I say 'spring is here' enough it will make it so, but at the moment the weather still seems decidedly chilly. My spring project is live on The Craft Barn blog today.

For more details do take a look at the blog.

I hope that you have a lovely weekend ahead. Thank you for stopping by. xxx

Embossing with Gelatos

Hello
A quick one to start today as I realised that this one slipped by without me posting. Although it's a Mother's Day card, with a change of sentiment it would fit many occasions.

First I scribbled on two pieces of card and blended the colours with a damp baby wipe.

Then I coloured an embossing folder using the lighter colour first. I did both sides and then spritzed lightly with water.

I put my coloured card pieces back to back in the folder so that I could emboss both at the same time, ending up with one side embossed and one side debossed. There was still some colour on the folder so I spritzed again and ran two pieces of white card through.

Using a different folder I embossed and die cut some flowers and used the pieces to build up the card, adding some string, gems and a sentiment to finish off.

I had enough pieces for two cards so one for my mother-in-law as well!

I know that a lot of the world celebrates Mother's Day in May so there's still plenty of time to be inspired. Take a look at The Craft Barn blog for more ideas here...here...and here.

Thank you for taking time to look. Don't go away - there's another post coming!

Boxing Clever

Hello
Here in the UK we've just come through a spell of bitterly cold, snowy weather, but today there are glimmers of sunshine and a definite touch of spring in the air. My offering this weekend is a little decorated box, perfect to put a little gift or chocolates in.

For details of materials and how I did it do take a look at The Craft Barn blog. A short post today as I'm going to do my best to actually get some crafting done!

Thank you for visiting. Hope you have a lovely day xxx
