Kit n Kaboodle - Retro Clock

Hello there
A quickie tonight. I've had a lovely day at The Craft Barn where we were making retro clocks with Helen Chilton in the Kit n Kaboodle class. If you like mixed media with a practical application this monthly class is the one for you. I have to say that my clock wasn't particularly retro by the time I finished with it. As often happens I kept looking at it in the class but wasn't quite happy. By the time I had driven home for an hour and had a fresh look the answer was obvious...more white!

Of course I had to do a bit of shopping too so watch this space as I try out my purchases!

Thank you for stopping by. Take care xx

Punch it!

Hi
Thank you for stopping by. This week The Craft Barn theme is all about using punch boards. I get to kick off the week with a card using a tabs punch board. It seemed too easy to just make index cards or journal dividers! Do pop over to the blog for all of the details and look out for ideas from the rest of the DT over the week.

Have a lovely day. It looks like it's going to get very warm indeed where I live!

Flowers and Smiles

Hello there
I've been having a little play with my Distress Oxide inks. At first I didn't have a clear idea of what I was aiming for but seeing how beautifully they layer and react with water a little inkling of an idea crept in.

I started by dabbing white card in fossilised amber and spiced marmalade which had been spritzed with water. I did four at a time to make the most of mopping up the ink.

Next I used spiced marmalade through a stencil and added a little more around the edges.

I die cut some Tim Holtz wildflowers and used the negative as a stencil. I started to build up the flower layers using the same colours. After I'd added a few flowers I spritzed with water, allowed a few seconds for the inks to react, before blotting with tissue to soften the images.

I then added another layer of flowers but this time did not soften the images. As you have probably noticed from the photos  it's not the same background each time. I obviously lost track when photographing!

Then I completely lost track and forgot to take photos at all! I finished the background with a little text stamping in peeled paint.  The sentiment was stamped using a stamp positioner just in case it didn't stamp perfectly first time. The die cut flowers were coloured by dipping in Distress Oxide ink and a little extra Distress Ink was also added to the flowers, before layering onto the card.

A cheery summery card to make up for a rather gloomy day. Thank you for taking the time to have a look. xx

One for the Boys

It's all things Seth Apter over at The Craft Barn this week. If you don't know his style it is very industrial and loaded with layers and textures. I had very messy fun decorating a Kate Crane Tando planner. Each page has roughly 8 layers of paint and stamping on it!

For step by step details of how to achieve this effect have a look at The Craft Barn blog.

Thank you for stopping by.  xx

June brings tulips, lilies, roses...

Hi there everyone
What a lovely hot, sunny Sunday it is. Meterological summer really here in theory and in weather! The first Sunday of the month means the next verse of The Craft Barn twelve month challenge is on the blog:

June brings tulips, lilies, roses,
Fills the children's hands with posies.

Here's my mini canvas...

Do take a look at The Craft Barn blog and all of the other entries. I always try to comment on as many as possible, unfortnately the links don't always work for some reason.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend. Happy crafting xxx
